Looking for an Alternative to Cream Cheese?

Try Kefir cheese. It’s lighter and tangier in texture. You can find it near yogurt or sour cream in most stores. I’ve been spreading it over toasted pain de mie for breakfast from one of my favorite bakeries in Berkeley. It also came in handy when I was making my olive oil lemon cake and ran out of sour cream! I used it to make a thick cucumber raita and a nice tzatziki spread.
