Granola a 4-Year Old Can Make

I went to a 4-year old super hero party a few weeks ago and wished I had brought the home made yogurt in a brand new thermos and this granola in a jar as a gift. Good thing there is another 4-year old party this weekend to see how it goes over. My husband said that the 4 -year old birthday boy won’t appreciate it but I said, who cares, his mom will!

The basic recipe is from Martha Stewart, a personal goddess of mine! I often make jars of granola when I haven’t quite done my Christmas shopping or want to give a friend a birthday gift. This is a basic recipe and variations on it might include: flax seeds, sesame seeds, chocolate chips etc. You can use grape juice as a sweetener or agave if you have vegan friends who I just learned don’t eat honey from bees! Whisk honey and oil together. Toss all ingredients EXCEPT raisins. Bake at 350 degrees until brown. Remove and add raisins. Cool and store in an airtight container.

 ¾ cup oil

½ cup honey

4 cups of oats

2 cups of coconut

2 cups of pecans or almonds

1 cup sunflower seeds

1 cup raisins
