This last week we held what has become our bi-annual conference for teachers, Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching. It’s one of those unique opportunities for teachers to talk—teacher to teacher. We don’t invite any administrators and a few teacher practice network leaders snuck in but for the most part, it’s just teachers. The highlight is always the three Cultivate a Calling, TED-like talks from teachers chosen from their peers. You get invited to ECET2 because someone recognizes you as an aspiring or existing teacher leader. This year I saw old friends from the LDC network and met new friends including a few Hope Street fellows and charter school teachers. To find out more, check out what teaches are saying about it. Melinda Gates made a surprise appearance this year and wowed teachers with her vision and we got a little insight into her dinner table talk! Check out the #whyiteach statements by so many teachers and join the conversation @teacher2teacher.
